A Musical Journey
From a very young age, I was interested in music but it wasn’t until I began learning to play that it became apparent that I was drawn to more difficult and challenging music. Music that pushed the envelope with intricate patterns and difficult time signatures which I found in the music from bands like Rush, Yes and Max Webster. They became my inspiration to strive to be a drummer capable of playing that kind of music. And more.
A few years later I started developing my skills on other instruments like bass and six string guitars and after seeing musical differences while playing with other musicians, I decided to give it a shot on my own to see if this writing and mixing thing was as hard as it seemed? It was…. but it seemed that would be a lot fun.
Beginning small, I put together a make shift recording booth and went about trying to put together songs that not only made sense but appealed to my personal taste in music. To be honest, it was not as easy as I thought. Thankfully, the internet has videos for everything and I started learning and developing my skills as a writer and in my mixing abilities.
Jumping ahead a few years to today, I’ve continued to expand my listening library to include bands like Ephemeral Sun, God is an Astronaut, Quantum Fantay and Mono Myth and my music has developed into a genre that I have become deeply fond of…. Instrumental Progressive/Art Rock. With a modern flare, these bands reminded me of the music that first peeked my interest to learn to play and write. To top things off, I enrolled at Metalworks Institute of Sound and graduated with a diploma in Audio Engineering which has given me the knowledge and ability to complete my music with a finished sound that I had always hoped for.
It has seemed like a lifetime, but the results are heard in my music, here on my website. Please have a listen. I hope that you enjoy hearing it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it and that it may one day inspire others to pursue their dreams on their own musical adventure.
